The East London International Convention Centre (ELICC) hosted the 11th SATNAC conference in the port city recently. The Southern Africa Telecommunication Networks and Applications Conference (SATNAC) is an annual event where Industry, Academia and Operators consult & publish on matters concerning progress achieved in applied research in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector and where industry leaders share their views on latest trends and developments.
With its feet in the sand, the ELICC is South Africa’s only beachfront convention centre and, together with excellent service and catering, ensured this year’s four day-long SATNAC event to be a huge success with a variety of theme evenings to keep the delegates entertained. Along with a welcome buffet dinner for the 450 guests, the ELICC then put on a Gala Dinner for 250 guests with a set menu specially prepared by Executive Chef Shane Seegers (with entertainment from Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels. The final evening was a fun event in the style of a “Viking Feast”, with an extensive menu and variety of old style serving utensils, boards and platters with the last of the revellers leaving well into the morning. Set on East London’s ocean-front Esplanade, the state-of-the-art ELICC includes a 650-seater auditorium, an exhibition floor (taking up to 90 stands) and a major hall capable of seating 850 ball-room style and 2200 cinema-style as well as board-rooms, restaurants and kitchens. |
