TRAVELWIRE.COM: 24 MAY 2010: Premier Hotel Knysna houses Media Village for World Cup
Knysna Municipality in the Western Cape has become the only Team Base Camp Town which has set up a Media Village and will cater for up to 400 journalists from Denmark and France.
In addition the Danish Media’s facilities at the Premier Hotel Knysna are also being upgraded with ICT infrastructure.
Knysna Mayor Eleanore Bouw-Spies expressed her delight that both the French and Danish Teams will be bringing a huge media contingent to Knysna.
“The World Cup is essentially a media event, as only a fraction of the followers of the game will be physically present. Of importance is that the largest majority of participants in this “festival of festivals” will depend on the media to bring them live actions on the field of play, off the field and pre and post event publicity”, Bouw-Spies said.
She further added that, “We are also mindful of the fact that a large contingent of accredited as well as non accredited broadcasters and journalists will descend on Knysna and the Western Cape. This provides Knysna and the Western Cape with a unique opportunity to work with the media covering the 2010 FIFA World Cup, thereby creating a positive image of the town, the region; developing infrastructure and people in a legacy leaving project; and to ensure access to the international media post the World Cup”.
Premier Hotel Knysna – The Moorings offers a range of luxury waterfront accommodation for both leisure and business, from 24 Studio suites to 20 One-bedroom suites and 26 Two-bedroom suites, all set on the banks of the reflective lagoon and includes a state-of-the-art conference facility.
