South Africa is experiencing a craft beer revolution and microbreweries seem to be popping up just about everywhere! With summer steadily on its way, we can’t wait to sit back, relax and enjoy a cold one. Start planning your summer sipping spree by taking a look at our favourite spots for craft beer around South Africa.
Knysna: Mitchell’s Brewing
For a taste of South Africa’s original craft beer, visit the folks at Mitchell’s Brewing in Knysna. The brewery has been delighting the palettes of many a beer lover since 1983 and is well known for its ales and lagers. Have a beer tasting holiday in the garden route and #staypremier at Premier Resort The Moorings.
Pretoria: Capital Craft Beer Academy
Although it might not be a brewery, Capital Craft Beer Academy offers the widest range of specialised craft beers in the country. Not limited to serving only local beer, this restaurant offers a wide range of delicious international brews as well as great meals. Visit them on your business trip to Premier Hotel Pretoria.
Durban: 1000 Hills Brewing Company
Probably one of the county’s most unique breweries, the 1000 Hills Brewing Company is the love child of the students from the 1000 Hills Chef’s School. With quirky labels and a wide range of flavours, they offer quite a few pale ales that are definitely worthwhile. Take a day trip to the brewery the next you visit Splendid Inn Pinetown.
East London: Emerald Vale Brewing Company
A lesser known brewery that can definitely play in the big leagues, the Emerald Vale Brewing Company is a must visit when you’re in the Eastern Cape. Offering a behind the scenes look at brewer life, enjoy tours and tastings as unique as the brewery itself. This brewery is located approximately 40km from Premier Hotel EL ICC.
Cape Town: Devil’s Peak Brewery
Singling out one specific brewery in Cape Town proved to be a challenge! The Mother City has many craft beer hotspots, but our absolute favourite has to be Devil’s Peak Brewery. The vibe is great, the beer is cold and their extensive menu will please even the most finicky of fanatics. Be sure to add this to your to do list the next time you stay at Premier Hotel Cape Town.
